The Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT) was inaugurated on the 25 of August 2022 as the female wing of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG). SWIT is to serve as an umbrella body of the female members of the Institute to build a network of female tax practitioners in Ghana with a common purpose of promoting the professional development and welfare of women in taxation.

MISSION

To facilitate and build a society where women will have keen interest and knowledge in tax laws, tax policy and practice in furtherance of the aims of CITG.

1. To assist the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (hereinafter referred to as “The Institute”) in the protection of the charter, status and interest of the female members of the Institute and promoting and maintaining a high standard of efficiency and professional conduct. In furtherance of the above objective, the society sets out;

• a. To consider all questions affecting the interests of the profession at large.
• b. To encourage and assist women entering the taxation profession;
• c. To publicize the abilities and achievements of women in taxation;
• d. To promote the continuing education, intellectual growth and professional knowledge of its members;
• e. To encourage members to articipate actively in the Institute and other professional taxation organisations;

• f. To create a forum for the objective study of contemporary problems in organisations engaging in taxation practice or administration;
• g. To undertake projects that would enhance the image of women in the profession and at large;
• h. To arrange activities on matters relating to the profession; social meetings with a view to enabling members and their guests meet informally and improve mutual understanding; and tax awareness campaigns in various sectors of the society and economy.

2. Work with other women organization to advocate for women in general, and to build a culture of tax consciousness among women;
